The daily maintenance of laminated tempered glass requires comprehensive consideration of cleaning, protection, usage habits, seasonal maintenance, and regular inspections to ensure its long-term safety, aesthetics, and service life. Here is a detailed maintenance guide:

Daily cleaning:

Perform 1-2 basic cleaning sessions per week. Gently wipe the surface dust with a damp towel, microfiber cloth, or damp newspaper, avoiding scratching with rough brushes or hard tools. Neutral glass cleaner or vinegar/beer diluted with warm water should be selected as the cleaning agent. It is strictly prohibited to use strong acid and alkali solutions (such as hydrochloric acid and bleach) to prevent corrosion of the interlayer adhesive film in the middle.

When encountering stubborn oil stains, spray a cleaning agent and cover with plastic wrap to let it sit for about 10 minutes. After the oil stains soften, tear off the plastic wrap and wipe it off.

Handling special stains: residual handwriting or stickers can be gently wiped with a wet eraser and then cleaned with a damp cloth; Paint or glue stains can be removed by applying cotton dipped in hot vinegar to soften the stain; The patterned frosted glass surface can be gently brushed in circles along the pattern with a toothbrush dipped in neutral detergent; Anti frosting in winter can be wiped with a cloth dipped in strong brine or Baijiu.

Environmental protection and placement:

For glass furniture or components, they should be securely placed to avoid frequent movement. When placing heavy objects, try to place them at the bottom to maintain a stable center of gravity and prevent tipping.

Long term maintenance of suitable environment: Keep away from heat sources (such as stoves and heaters), as high temperatures can cause the interlayer adhesive to age; Pay attention to moisture and corrosion prevention, avoid long-term contact with water vapor, and isolate acidic and alkaline chemicals (such as certain strong cleaning agents and experimental reagents); For outdoor glass, it is necessary to avoid the impact of extreme weather. Long time exposure or rainstorm will accelerate the aging and cracking of the adhesive layer. It is recommended to install sunshade protection.

Usage and injury prevention:

Be careful to avoid physical impact at all times during use. It is strictly prohibited to hit the glass surface with hard objects or scratch it with sharp objects (such as knives, metal tools). Although tempered glass itself has strong impact resistance, its edges are relatively fragile.

Wear gloves during transportation to avoid direct contact between hands and cutting edges; Soft rubber pads should be used for cushioning protection at the contact between the glass and the frame during installation.

Seasonal maintenance:

Carry out targeted maintenance during the change of seasons: focus on antifreeze in winter, especially for outdoor glass, and regularly check whether the sealant strip is intact to prevent the glass from cracking due to water seepage and ice expansion. The above mentioned concentrated brine or Baijiu wiping method can be used to assist in antifreeze; In summer, sun protection is necessary. You can reduce the exposure time of glass and delay the yellowing of laminated adhesive caused by UV radiation by applying UV protection film or using curtains.

Regular inspection and professional maintenance:

Develop a habit of monthly visual inspection: focus on observing whether there are cracks, edges or corners, or whether there is delamination or blistering in the middle of the glass surface, and also check whether there are signs of looseness in the fixed frame.

More importantly, a comprehensive inspection and maintenance should be conducted by professionals every 1-2 years. They can detect the bonding status and aging degree of laminated glass structural adhesives (such as silicone adhesives), which is particularly necessary for critical parts of glass such as high-altitude curtain walls.

Key avoidance tips:

Prohibit strong cleaning agents such as ammonia water, cleaning powder, etc., as they can seriously damage the adhesion of the interlayer adhesive.

Do not repair cracks on your own: Once cracks (even small ones) are found, you must immediately contact a professional manufacturer for replacement. Any temporary self repair poses a significant safety hazard and may cause the glass to suddenly shatter as a whole.

Avoid high temperature steam cleaning: High temperature and high pressure steam may cause the separation failure of the adhesive layer.

Summary: Following the above systematic maintenance methods can effectively maintain the transparency, safety, and service life of laminated tempered glass. Please remember that safety comes first. When structural damage is found (such as extensive delamination or significant cracks), it is necessary to stop using it and seek professional help for replacement. Do not take the risk of handling it yourself.
